Gender Roles

So I have begun to watch the first season of Glee on Netflix, and there is one episode that shows gender roles very well. This episode is a Kurt episode. In this episode Kurt lies to his father about his sexuality and in order to keep his secret, he has to join the football team. When Kurt first arrives at tryouts with Finn, all of the other football players start to laugh at him. When the time comes for Kurt to "audition" for the kicker, Beyonce's sigle ladies song starts to play. Of course all of the other guys are laughing at him. Kurt begins to do his dance, slowly moving towards the ball, and he kicks. He makes it. All of the guys are shocked at what just happened. And as a result, The coach makes all the players join the glee club for a week, and they have to learn how to dance. All of the guys are outraged at this. They say things like "dancing in for chicks and queers". This reminded me of this lesson about gender roles. These football players are living up to what a "man" is supposed to do. I dont think there is anything wrong with learning how to dance. If anything it makes football players better at what they do.
